Come find the soulmate for your daughter or the dream woman for your son on a website which says in its facebook ad:
Single available women and Get Sexy Babes on Your Desktop for Free and Looking for a girlfriend??! SHOCKING?? Well, yes, it is. I know of many a parents who are in the search for the suitable matches for their children and this is what the social networking site facebook says about this famous matrimonial site.
Let me put things in perspective now. While going through the facebook Ads, and randomly clicking on an Ad which said Single Available Women, was not my thing, but when it said, find your soulmate today at Shaadi free, I was hooked.
Is this a DATING site, I am going to? This is how my profile will be shown on an Ad tomorrow? Is this where I wish to find the best match for my son/daughter who are my future?
Is Shaadi.com not even clear about who they want to target the site to?
I today question the working of these so called matrimonial sites. I remember one of my research team members doing a research on matrimonial sites, sometime back, while I was consulting a new free matrimonial website in India, though I never knew this is what they will resort to, for generating traffic to their site.
Would you ever want your daughter’s picture on one of these Ads, saying Single Available Women!
I understand and agree that “Single available women” simply says that we have single women who are available for marriage on our site, but I protest by saying that there are better ways of putting across the message.
I have my own personal profile on Shaadi.com, though I dont use it and neither I would ever, but today I have a major doubt on their ethics. I dont know if my personal details are being shared across with some other site?
Just to earn clicks if this is what a site can resort to, to earn money they can resort to sharing personal data as well?!

The above captured URL’s (which have been sent to me, by a great friend, who is the founder of one of the best Design companies, and hence could capture the fast changing and re-directing URL’s) are PROOF how Shaadi.com guys are using indirect re-directs through third party hosts, to make you land up to their “Sexy Babes on Your Desktop” register page.
I call upon followers to show concern, as this is a matter of high priority where a single mis-representation of someone’s identity could harm an entire families reputation.
You are right at your point but the matrimonial sites deploy some terms and condition before we proceed on.. http://www.shaadi.com/shaadi_info/terms.php it contains all the limitations customers and retains all the jump-on powers with them. Showing his of her personal profile is a crime but these people say that these profiles are public so we can’t think of any private-ness in them.
Shaadi.com ranked the most visited matrimonial website in the world -ranking.com
The only site to be ISO 9001 -2000 certified , verisign, TRUST e certified ……
The question that comes up NOW is HOWWWW??
Single Available women .. makes me wonder where have I landed ??? IS THIS HOW Shaadi. generates those hits and rankings ????????
Even though it means …single women who are available for marriage there are ofcourse better ways to put it .. What strikes my mind now is arent MEN listed on Shaadi.com ??? The ads are surely demeaning a girls image .. and thrs no gurantee .. my profile might JUST be used there and i might just not be aware of it ..
I wonder how Shaadi.com has received its Quality certifications and Trust e certifications … I have lost all trust here …. This should be taken up seriously and answers sought from Shaadi.com .
Thanks for the Great Post Paritosh!
It is shocking to see such approaches being used by known web portals to generate and direct traffic. Considering the offering shaadi.com has wherein the brand should stand out for its transparency and reliability of services and transaction ; use of such approaches is actually a dent in their credibility. I wonder if any of the parents see this advt, would they still like to post or search matches via this portal.
Regards / Ojasvi
Shaadi.com can be dragged to court for posting wrong advertisement, so can be facebook for allowing such abuse. I am sure this ad is a violation of terms and conditions of facebook ad too.
What is more shocking here is that shaadi.com which claims to be biggest matrimonial site in the worlds is resorting to such stupid advertisement techniques. This puts them in the same category as spammers…
Do shaadi.com care about any ones privacy… they are falling to any depth possible to get traffic… and just is case shaadi.com guys think shouting “Single available women” is some kind of joke or fun.., they are deadly mistaken, this isnt funny and is one of the most distasteful ads I have ever seen… If you do not have creativity… windup your shop and look for other ventures… but dont post such stupid jokes…
Given that several big companies have been dragged to court for obscene advertisement (kwality, motorola, reebok to name few)… how can shaadi.com management be so careless and irresponsible to let such ads go through. They are mis guiding the consumer…
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr…………
now we have sluts coming from saddi.com coming in pur room for fun.
cool
Whats the point of generating clicks like this I don’t understand!! BULSHIT @ ITS BEST.
Thanks all for your comments, I am sure to take this up with the CEO, Shaadi.com.
@Asish, well there is a point:
I was on-board, a free matrimonial site, being developed by a NRI, and let me open up a few doors here! Almost every matrimonial site in India (Shaadi, BM, JS) etc…a good chunk of their traffic is young men and women who are looking at only hooking up.
There is an entire database of such people out there, on these sites, who actually give them the “number” of clicks, so as to maintain the desired advertising revenues.
Also, for the information part: my research team showed, how “females” are still not open to sharing their pics on these sites, there is a big gap between the ratio of males/ females “Genuine registered users”.
For your query: there is one very basic assumption here, that a young guy would be attracted towards “Sexy ads” and hence click. The positioning is absolute crap, but as Iv mentioned above, a good chunk of the database is for those who on-purpose already know they are here to hook-up. I know of people who actually have hooked up for just nights through a famed Indian matrimonial site.
These matrimony guys know it, but obviously they cannot come out in the public with this, so someone out of us has to get the basic business ethics back in place, and Im open to making things public.
Thats actually not a fault of Shaadi.com. Shaadi.com runs there affiliate program on various ad networks paying per lead for getting there forms field up. This ad has been made by one of there affiliate to generate sales over there landing page and hence, Shaadi.com’s reputation is going down with people noticing it.
They should probably catch this affiliate and get this issue resolved. Or people will bombard them with criticism against such ads.
Hi Paritosh,
First of all we’d like to thank you for bringing this to our notice. As the world’s leading online matrimonial service, we have always lived by the fact that marriage is the most sacred & traditional bond that two people can share & do not believe in communicating anything otherwise. The ads that you have seen on facebook have clearly not been created by us but by an affiliate who in all good faith seems to have gotten things a little off beam. He has thus been asked to discontinue posting such inappropriate content immediately.
We humbly hope to continue receiving your support to do what we do best, help people find their true happiness.
Thank You,
The Shaadi.com Team
It seems like somebody is buying traffic to keep their numbers up.
